The Baker family has been serving Aberkenfig since the 1870s, evolving with the community's needs. 

The family started retailing as a 'High Quality Gents & Ladies Tailor'. The next generation ( Simon's Great Grandmother and Grandfather ) ran a 'Greengrocer & General Stores' through the 1920's and 40's.

Simon's Grandfather ( W.T.Baker ) operated multiple businesses from the late 1940's to mid 1980's. For example .... one of the first TV rental stores in the county, Newsagents, Hardware & Cycles Store, Haulage Company, Car Sales, Carpet Sales, Wood-Working Machinery Sales, and finally for a short while even a cafe.

In the early 1970's Simon's father took on the hardware business and when he decided to move onto other things his brother ( Simon's uncle ) Marcus took over the reigns.

In 1995 Marcus invited Simon and Anne to join the family business as partners so as to continue the 'family legacy' which we do to this day. After 47 years at the helm Marcus sadly passed away in 2020. He is fondly remembered not just by ourselves but the whole community such was his knowledge, generosity and service to Aberkenfig and its surrounding communities.  

Carrying on where Marcus left off we believe in delivering not only quality products but a personalized service to enhance your shopping experience.
